About Mema

A proud Marriamu woman who was born and raised on Larrakia Land in the Northern Territory, Mema had a rich and fulfilled childhood through her many extra circular activities competitive swimming, pool lifesaving, boxing, horse riding, dancing and hockey to name a few.

Mema loves to live life to the fullest and has had some crazy experiences, from flying planes through Airforce cadets, to sailing the high seas on The Young Endeavour program. However none of this compares to the joy she feels performing onstage.

NIDA has given Mema the training and confidence to now take what she has learnt throughout her three years into the industry. Some of her NIDA highlights are performing as Nerissa in Shakespeare’s Merchant of Venice, Paulina in Shakespeare’s The Winter’s Tale and Marina in Chekov’s Uncle Vanya. She also has been inspired by working with guest directors Kate Champion and Liza-Mare Syron.

As a young Indigenous creative, Mema hopes to become a role model for Indigenous youth and inspire them to follow their dreams. She is excited to take on roles that will challenge representational casting nationally and internationally. She also looks forward to telling empowering stories of First Nations on screen and stage.
