About Melissa
Melissa Malu is a proud Fijian/Tongan creative and storyteller. She is a conceptual and creative solutions-based thinker with leadership strengths in strategic planning, development, and risk mitigation. She is passionate about facilitating strategies, frameworks, and solutions, based around Indigenous and traditional Pasifika narratives and practices. She has more than 15 years of communication and community development experience, and uses transferable skills from both fields, to support her work within the arts and cultural sector. Melissa is currently the Manager of Pasifika Collections and Engagement at the Australian Museum. She is lead curator of the new Pasifika gallery, opening in October of 2023, and the creative and strategic mind behind the Pasifika programming, that will support the new gallery.
Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Social and Cultural Analysis from Western Sydney University, a Master of Communication from Griffith University, and a Master of Fine Arts in Cultural Leadership from NIDA.
