Madeleine Diggins

About Madeleine

Madeleine is a director who is passionate about collaborating with other artists to create bold works with humour and heart. She currently creates work on unceded Bidjigal and Gadigal land.

Prior to studying at NIDA, she completed the Stella Adler Studio of Acting Professional Conservatory and studied at the UCB in New York. Madeleine also holds a Bachelor of Arts (Theatre and Performance) with Distinction from UNSW.

As artistic director of Swag Theatre Company, New York, Madeleine directed numerous contemporary Australian plays. In Australia, she has worked under the guidance of Fiona Finley at The Drama Studio, teaching, and assistant directing numerous youth theatre productions. As a teaching artist, she works with NIDA Open, ATYP, and Excelsia College.

Directing credits include Reboot (ATYP), The Caucasian Chalk Circle (Excelsia College), Forgotten (Playhouse Hobart/Riverside Parramatta) Hit Me Baby (Katie Lees Fellowship), BETH (NIDA), Kabarett (NIDA), Cyrano De Bergerac (NIDA/ACA), Hate Goodbyes (Triple J Unearthed), Much Ado About Nothing (Streamed Shakespeare), Ladies Day (NYC Premiere, Stella Adler), Death and Botany (Stella Adler), Lockout (Off-Off Broadway), Assistant Directing: Perfect Stranger (NIDA), A Bright Room Called Day (Stella Adler) and Edelweiss Pirates and Tuesday (Dramastudio/National Theatre). Directorial Secondments: Kidnapped (National Theatre of Scotland), The Lifespan of a Fact (Sydney Theatre Company).
