About Janet

Janet was born in Sydney, before growing up with her family in Westchester, New York. Her passion for entertaining was fuelled by her emersion in the spectacle and extravagance of Broadway shows, after begging her mother for a ticket every birthday. While attending Newtown High School of the Performing Arts, She performed in Opera Australia (2013-2015) along with innumerable drama clubs and choirs, always in the very back row.

Janet describes herself as ‘Pure Camp’.  As a proud transgender actress, she makes sure her queerness is at the forefront of all her work, off stage and on. As well as being a passionate performer, she is also an accomplished social activist, leading the #letthemswim movement in protest of the McIver’s baths, spoke on a Mardi Gras Panel for safe schools in 2019 and having an opinion article published in VOGUE Australia in 2021.

Prior to NIDA, Janet performed in the 2019 production of Mercury Fur as the role of Lola directed by Kim Hardwick for Kings Cross Theatre. in the same year she made her television debut in the US ABC series Reef Break as Marta, produced and starring Poppy Montgomery. Recently, Janet made her main stage debut in Overflow, a one woman show, directed by Dino Dimitriadis and produced by Darlinghurst Theatre Company. In 2023, she will appear in a guest role of Simone in the upcoming series Last King of the Cross on Paramount Plus.
