triple j Unearthed music video winners announced

triple j Unearthed has announced the seven lucky bands and artists whose music will be transformed into a video free of charge thanks to NIDA.

triple j Unearthed has announced the seven lucky bands and artists whose music will be transformed into a video free of charge thanks to NIDA.

The mix of hip hop, indie, folk and electronic artists will be working with NIDA’s directing, production and design students who will have just $200 and two days to turn the winning tunes into eye-catching music videos.

NIDA Head of Directing, Egil Kipste says the students were instantly inspired by the diverse songs and artists they were going to be working with.

“The competition is a very different challenge for our Directing students,” Egil says.

“I think they were all feeling a bit nervous about taking on the huge task of creating a professional music video, but the second they heard the winning songs they got excited. I could even see some of them start to scribble down ideas as they were listening to the artists for the first time!

“We’re very fortunate to be able to work with triple j Unearthed on this project and to have the chance for NIDA students to showcase their creativity to whole different audience.”

triple j Unearthed Music Director, Dave Ruby Howe said the 2014 winners were a strong group of artists that demonstrated the breadth of emerging music talent coming up in Australia.

“Producing an engaging and high quality music video is often out of reach for a lot of musicians early in their careers so we’re really lucky to have this competition to be able to hook up the talented NIDA students with some of the best emerging musical talent that’s coming through Unearthed.

“I really can’t wait to see the results of the brainstorming that’s already going on over at NIDA and how the students bring to life the sweeping orchestral-electronica of Jasia’s Inverbatim, the boundless charisma of the Loose Change guys and the tenderness of Rosie Catalano’s voice to name a few.”

The winners’ music videos will be aired for the first time on rage later in 2014. For more information visit triplejunearthed.com
