The Sydney Morning Herald Spectrum NOW Festival has taken over Sydney with art, music, performances and talks and NIDA Open and NIDA Corporate are proud to be part of this 16-day festival, a highlight on Sydney’s 2016 cultural calendar.

Each Saturday and Sunday over the next two weeks, NIDA Open will be running a series of NIDA Bites sessions as part of KidZone in The Domain, where family-friendly events will be happening throughout the festival. The NIDA Open sessions cater for a variety of age groups from Kindergarten to Grade 10 and introduces children and young people to simple, fun acting techniques and improvisation practice that engages the senses.

Adults will also have the chance to explore new skills with a special NIDA Bites workshop happening on Saturday 5 March. Participants will be taken through a series of acting techniques and ensemble work, providing great insight into what it takes to be an actor.

Head of NIDA Open Tricia Ryan is delighted by this collaboration.

‘This festival is a great showcase of what Sydney has to offer and NIDA Open is pleased to be included in this diverse array of fun, engaging and informative entertainment,’ commented Ms Ryan.

‘Based on NIDA’s renowned teaching and training methodologies, a NIDA Bites session is a great opportunity to try something new and get ataste of NIDA’s short course program.’

Continuing its work in the presentation and communication space, NIDA Corporate is running a special two-hour taster session, The Art of Storytelling for business professionals on Tuesday 8 March, also at The Domain. Led by an expert NIDA Corporate tutor, this practical workshop will focus on basic techniques to captivate, influence and engage an audience, using storytelling techniques that have been studied and employed by actors all over the world. Participants will build confidence in their techniques and work towards presenting with greater impact.

Running until Wednesday 16 March, check out Spectrum NOW for a fantastic variety of events for everyone!
