NIDA graduate Remy Hii has won a Silver Logie for his performance in the SBS mini-series Better Man.
Remy took out the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Outstanding Newcomer beating fellow nominee and NIDA alumnus Meyne Wyatt.
NIDA graduates have dominated this year’s nominations for the TV Week Logie Awards across nearly every category. Head of Screen Di Drew said it was exciting to see so many graduates recognised for their talent and outstanding performances on Australia television.
“We are incredibly proud to see NIDA alumni represented in almost every category, especially Essie Davis who is nominated not only for the Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress but also for the highly prized Gold Logie for her outstanding role as Phryne Fisher in the ABC’s Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries.” Ms Drew said.
“It’s also wonderful to see two NIDA graduates nominated for the Silver Logie winner for Most Popular Actor – Hugh Sheridan for his role as Ben Rafter in Packed to the Rafters and Matthew Le Nevez who is better known as Dr Patrick Reid in Offspring.”
They are backed up by a number of recent graduates who are quickly and firmly making their mark on the Australian screen industry, including Remy Hii, Meyne Wyatt and Bonnie Sveen who is nominated for Most Popular New Talent.
“These are just a few of the talented actors coming out of NIDA who are showcasing why we are Australia’s leading centre for training in theatre, television and film.”
NIDA alumni also feature in every nominated series and telemovie in the categories of Most Popular Drama Series, Most Outstanding Drama Series andMost Outstanding Miniseries or Telemovie.
“Our former students can be found lending their performances and creativity to new works and projects right around Australia,” Di Drew said.
“We’re very proud of all our nominated graduates and wish them all the best for the announcement of the winners later this month.”
The TV Week Logies will be announced on Sunday 27 April.
