NIDA appoints new Board members

NIDA’s leadership team has been further strengthened through the recent appointment of two new Board members, Stephen Armstrong and Ron Malek.
NIDA’s leadership team has been further strengthened through the recent appointment of two new Board members, Stephen Armstrong and Ron Malek.Between them, they bring significant experience to NIDA, from both the creative and business sectors.

Stephen Armstrong is the Creative Producer (Asian Performing Arts) at Arts Centre Melbourne. Stephen has held executive producing positions with main-stage and independent companies in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney where his focus has been commissioning and programming new works – often in collaboration with national and international partners. Stephen has previously worked with the Boards of numerous leading arts organisations, including Chunky Move, Victorian Actors benevolent Trust, Australian National Playwrights Centre, Melbourne Fringe, Contemporary Music Events Company and QUT’s Centre for Innovation in the Arts. He was inaugural Chair of the Australia Council’s Hybrid Arts and New Media Arts Committee and has just concluded a three year term as Chair of the Theatre Board.

Ron Malek has been a practising corporate and financial adviser for over 25 years. He is a Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia, was a co-founder of the firm Caliburn (later merged with the company Greenhill) and was previously Co-Chief Executive of Caliburn and Greenhill Caliburn. Ron recently retired from his role as Vice Chairman and Managing Director of Greenhill. Ron is also a director of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation and a member of the Australian Takeovers Panel, the UNSW Council’s Investment Committee and the Australian Paralympic Committee’s Investment Committee. He has a longstanding interest in the arts and in educational organisations.
