The National Institute of Dramatic Art is pleased to announce that Michael Scott-Mitchell has been appointed to the role of Deputy Director/CEO of NIDA.
Michael will take on an increased management role across NIDA while maintaining his current responsibilities as Head of Design and Director of Undergraduate Studies.
A NIDA graduate with extensive industry experience, Michael joined the institute as Head of Design in 2008 and later became Director of Undergraduate Studies in 2011. In addition to these responsibilities, Michael has remained an active member of the arts and entertainment industry with recent works including the new Broadway production of Dr Zhivargo (2015), Sydney Theatre Company’s production of Arms and the Man (2015) and John Bell’s Tosca for Opera Australia (2015).
NIDA Director/CEO, Lynne Williams congratulated Michael on his appointment.
“Michael makes an invaluable contribution to so many areas of NIDA. His capacity for leadership and his commitment to excellence has been an inspiration to both staff and students”, commented Lynne Williams.
“He has been integral to the development of new courses at both BFA and MFA level and to the planning and implementation of a future-focussed teaching and learning environment at NIDA, including the new Graduate School.
“I am delighted that Michael’s expertise and commitment to NIDA has been recognised by the members of the Executive Team and the Board of NIDA and congratulate him on his new role. I look forward to working closely with him as we explore new possibilities for NIDA’s internationally recognised education and training programs.”
